Look at nature, look at the forests, deserts, oceans and mountains. You may see not see any straight lines, perpendiculars, squares, circles, etc. But it's wonderfully balanced nevertheless, there is order amongst its chaos.
Look at man, look at the cities. The roads are perpendicular, lanes are straight, gardens are square, playgrounds are circular etc. But ultimately, this only disturbs the ecosystem and pollutes the environment. It's pathetically imbalanced, there is chaos amongst its order....
Sometimes I wonder, is geometry an artificial science???
If u go to see nature on Earth, u might not find many examples of straight lines, rectangles etc. But if i am not mistaken, light itself falls in a straight line na? there r some handful of examples of this sort ( am not too sciency...so i wont be able to give u apt examples) but yes, there's an order in this seemingly chaotic nature. The forms in man made structures have been taken from nature, but I guess the forms are not the cause of pollution, there are other factors contributing to it. Here's something interesting - The Golden Spiral is a mystical shape that is an absolute in both abstract mathematics and chaotic nature. ( i just wrote from the top of my head, don't know if it makes sense though )
ReplyDeleteThe point is, humans are aping nature in a lot of ways, but they are failing to estimate how nature is able to create a harmony with it, without harming itself and others....that's where is the epic fail...not the forms that are being used.
